1. Have a Clean Environment. You Don’t Have a Creative Mess. You’re Just Messy.

Contrary to popular belief, a creative mess doesn’t exist in a way that is helpful to artists or creative types. You want to be able to move and breathe freely in your space.

Many people may be able to still be creative in a messy space with their papers and supplies strewn around, but that eventually begins to work against you. Pieces of your creative work starts getting buried under other pieces and thoughts, and although the creative mess may be stimulating you in some way, you can be overstimulated by the mess. Which can lead to creative blocks from not knowing which directions to go in or where to find particular pieces of your idea hidden under all of your mess.

2. Have Lots of Interesting Things in Your Space That Inspires You

Now a clean environment doesn’t mean and empty environment.

As you move out and about in the world, make a habit of picking up interesting things and items and bringing them home to add to your space.
